Youths Arises
Should the good people of our nation still have confidence on
Yakubu Mahmoud the INEC institutional chairman, Before the election of 25th
February 2023 INEC chairman along with other well-meaning Nigerian went to
Chatham house where the man Yakubu promised and assuredprominent world leaders
those present physicallyand online to conduct credible, fair and transparent
election.
Nigerians at home and in diaspora for the first time in many
years are feeling hopeful in the electoral process that was deemed faulty and
in need of overhauling, Billions of Naira was apportioned and injected for
upgrade to latest state of art technology and software deemed to be hack-prove.
Best hands and brain in the IT background were employed to manage the systems
which makes us confident this time around for a better outcome, also because of
the keen observation by several international electoral umpires.
Unfortunately, after the
just concluded election, it appears as if it is the worst elections in Nigeria
so far in the country history. Nigerian are now asking questions that need
answers, what happened to all the preparation with the huge tax-payers money
that was allocated to the electoral institution to upgrade its equipment and
put in place all necessary machineries, technologies, protocols and guideline
that will prevent mediocrity or malpractice.
Considering the un scrupulous incidents that transpired all
throughout the election processes in various pooling units around the nation,
Nigerians are asking valuable questions, should we take any word from INEC
Chairman serious again. Do we have any reason to think that he is sly and has
been compromised. What can we read in his body language, wasn’t he calm,
confident and cooperative with court order to inspect the electoral
instruments.
It is proper to say the responsibilities of credible election
rest on Yakubu Mahmood, this is the reason why the nation citizens are
clamoring to get him to represent honesty as the best way forward for
successfully birthing of a new Nigeria.
The people of this great nation deserve a modern system of
governance where every basic amenity or apparatus of society functions and are
been managed judiciously by trained and qualified professionals. Professor
Yakubu Mahmood will remain a role model in this historical election that
brought democracy closer to the common person to have a voice in our society.
How will the professor like to be remembered in history entirely
depend on transparency and cooperation without playing a delay tactics that may
not work for him at the end.
The people of our dear nation Nigeria are tired of electing
people into office that turn around and start playing with their emotions which
has resulted in retrogressive development for a country that is known to be the
giant of Africa. Bad leadership has led
to brain drain and this is so bad for Nigeria, if this 2023 presidential
election scuffles is not adequately handled it will be clearly seen as the
cabals responsible for bad government don’t want a change in Nigerian.
Truth shall prevail no matter how long it takes because the
entire citizens of our country and Obedient movement worldwide are strongly optimistic
that finally the right decision will be made by INEC chairman to avoid the
negative connotation that such corrupt electoral practice will have on our
leadership image home and abroad.
It is irrelevant who becomes president of Nigeria, we the people
want corruption to end in our country. People are frustrated with the lack of
jobs even after graduating from higher institutions.
Small business men and women of our country are the ones that
constantly employ few hands to run their establishments which are the back bone
of this economy, but they lack the basic infrastructure that would have helped
them to become more productive and competitive in the global market place,
which would have resulted in more job creation that would have reduced unemployment
and curb crime among our youths and the general public.
for instance, constant availability of electricity light, good
roads, hospital, schools and clean drinkable pipe borne water are nothing hard
to achieve but why our leaders refused to make it happened is beyond everyone
imagination.
Going forward as a nation we should collectively ask ourselves
what did we learn in all these charades and what can we do differently now to
install or elect an independent credible honest INEC chairman that can be
trusted to say and do everything according to his or her promises to the good
people of this land.
This nation needs an INEC chairman that can speak with
confidence to the people because he or she was able to perfect credible voting
procedures and configurations to perfect transparent electoral process.
INEC is in the position to stop failing Nigeria or help put in
place experienced and empathetic leaders who are visionary to do the right
thing in our nation. INEC should be so
transparent to allow all party flag bearers to inspect documents and voting
materials.
The moment has arrived for all Nigerian young and old to come
together as unit to show bad leaders or politicians that Nigeria is not for
sale to the highest bidder, we need competent hands with good characters and
competence to manage our nation’s affairs and resources.
The management of electoral materials or configuration of voting
technology should have been done by appointing technical personals from all
contesting parties to be part of the process, by so doing any trust issues will
be readily avoided. I think is a grave
mistake to put a destiny of over 200 million Nigerian in the hands of one man
or woman because of his faith or religion to decide who rule them.
We the people have trusted the current INEC chairman at our own
peril because we failed to do due diligence.
Voting is a game of contest which every competing party or individuals
come to the occasion with all kinds of gimmicks and tricks in their sleeves.
What we needed done going forward is check-mating every step of the process.
The demand of every citizen is to see a country that is
functional for themselves and their children born and unborn. When we put
people in position that does not understands our priority then the bulk of the
blames should be ours to bear.
Nigerian and the whole world and the entire continent of Africa
are waiting and watching. Our INEC chairman hopefully will prove himself worthy
of a deserving excellency and honest in the discharge of his duties especially
now as he hears the cry of Nigerians to do the needful by enabling the right
presidential candidate to get his mandate.
Credible election anywhere in the democratic world is not by
appointment but by transparent election by the people.
Corruption does not give up easily. That’s why we have to put
all our collective energy into correcting this important aspect of our
democracy, this is a fight to better all of us so all hands must be on deck. We
cannot emphatically say Professor Yakubu the current INEC chairman is
compromised without any concrete prove by the court of competent
jurisdiction.
The just concluded election is indeed a window of divine
opportunity that has just presented itself to our scrupulous bad politicians to
have a change of heart and make a U-turn by joining hands with individuals and
group that has proven to have the needed solutions to solve multiple problems
that are bedeviling our nation.
At this moment we can collectively decide to put an end to
the heartless and impetuous act of kidnaping, rape, robberies, scams, lawless
disrespect and disregard of the rule of law. This has become the entrenched
conduct of leadership in Nigeria. Nigerians are known to be hardworking people
everywhere you find them on planet earth but we are ranked morally and
ethically low in the international community.
We need to have a system in place that is so transparent that it
can be televised nationally on live television for everyone to view the
transparency right from the comfort of their homes.
Why are we making this simple problem so complicated in the age
of mobile telephone and internet technology.
Almost 70 or more percent of the people that just cast their
votes are users of mobile phones, what stop INEC from setting one dedicated
secure phone line for each of the contesting parties,
Every qualified voter will then text their data and who they
chose to vote for into the live telephone line connected to live tv that can be
viewed nationwide and world at large.
If there is any dispute
in the vote at any given moment, it will be a matter of announcing on the radio
or television for people to re text back their choices and options. Believe you me this approach will be very
entertaining and innovative in such a way that this idea itself will become a
template that Nigeria brain behind such success will become electoral
consultant to other nations in Africa and even across the globe.
So, in this moment I will advise each of us to consciously
retrieve within and start looking at the event transpiring in our nation as if
watching a movie. The movie is about the good the bad and the ugly, some people
are watching the event and screaming, others are watching quietly, some has
become overzealous social media umpires drumming support for one candidate or
the order, the social media space has gone agog because of the 2023 Nigeria
Election. Among the many noises and
reasons from many learned individuals, elders stateman and seasoned politicians.
Can we see the opportunity that has presented itself clearly.
Something positive and revolutionary can spiral out of this
defective and broken project called Nigeria, it’s up to us to call all our
political actors to order and give each of them a script that we all
collectively vetted do to us good when everyone of the political actor stick to
their role in the script.
Let us use this recent 2023 election experience to go back to
our drawing board to prescribe retributions that will befall any man or woman
we commit our collective trust and it got breached by corruptions of selecting
to sell the nation to the highest bidder.
In a situation like this what will a country like India do, what will
China do, what will America do in a situation like this. What will France do, or Egypt or South Africa
or Ghana.
We can start to get it right starting from now going forward by
laying down a proper foundation and build succession upon every gain recorded.
What is happening in Nigeria right now is nothing short of a
miracle, believe me gun manufacturers are disappointed because of the
anticipated mayhem that they calculated to take place after the election.
This alone is an achievement by itself, it shows our maturity as
Nigerians, we can campaign about issues that is bothering our society without
becoming derogative towards the opponent of the other contesting parties. We may disagree with differences of opinions
but that does not mean we have to be at each other throat just to prove a
point.
This great Nollywood reality show going on in Nigeria right now
is an opportunity of a low hanging fruit waiting for us to recognize them and
start the process of harvesting.
The respect and inclusiveness that black people world-wide have
been desperately seeking is what Obedient movement has brought to us, I wish
the intellectuals, imam, prophets, preachers, motivational leaders among us can
recognize and harness this global energy into advancement of our collective
aspiration.
Money is a current, live blood and sweat that is why money is
also called currency, we the people understood this mystical truth that is why
individually we spend so much money in 2023 election as sacrifice to cleans our
land from bad leadership omen, after all of such effort has been exhausted, we
believe our labor should not be in vain or taken for granted.
Business require money to make money, if politicians want to
rule Nigerians by all means then let the whole Nigerians be treated as
deserving a human dignity, make a monetary offer that cannot be refused to each
of our citizen. For example, offer to give each citizen a job for life,
business, cars, Farms, houses and $10 Million Dollars each.
for the first time in history of this nation Nigerians of all
faith, religion, tribes, color and class sacrificed their widow smite to ensure
free, fair and creditable elections only to be rewarded with opportunity to
become a beacon of electoral hope to our continent and the entire world.
We are the stones that the builders rejected in the
international spaces and global market because our leaders’ inabilities to put
our houses in order. We have wakened up to the realization that we will make
ourself the head corner stone. We have
decided to turn this sour lime life throws at us to a mouthwatering and taste
quenching lemonade drink.
Yakubu Mahmood acted co-operatively, professionally with decorum
while he was been questioned by the legal counsel of LP, and he said I Quote ‘I
have nothing to hide” What a gentle cool-headed man. such is worthy of the role
of leadership in this country if only truly he was not found compromised to
tamper with such (AMANA) that the whole of us entrusted into his safe
keep.
Assuming that we found out after proper investigation that bring
to the lime light that the election was bought and sold long even after the
vote started casting, then we should not throw the baby away with the bath
water, this is where the conversation begins, let us accept our own failure by
falling for his gimmicks, not doing the due diligence by planting monitoring vices
around every inch of the electoral process.
Election is a competition of ideas peddled by contestant, just
as every football player come to the world cup to shine for him or herself and
the team they represented. Some players are rough in the football field, same
way some politicians are derogative in their campaigns, everyone play the game
of life by their moral understanding of how the world function from their own
perspectives.
INEC Chairman is in a position to change these historical narratives
to betterment of all than continue to dance to the same old drum beats without
soul or empathy, for the very first time in the history of mankind have we seen
what catch 22 look like in real life.
Now that INEC found itself between the devil and the deep blue
sea, between Obidient movement, the people, Nigerian Youths and the world at
large, what is needed is the assurance of Nigerians to prayerfully encourage
Professor Yakubu Mahmood to find it humane and progressive in his biography and
legacy that he will leave behind for his next generation.
The Professor must priorities this time to the liberation of the
black race world-wide from the shackles of oppression and condemnation to the
bottomless pit of struggles and poverty living globally.
The professor is the one in the seat to hire the right candidate
or pilot to fly this Aeroplan nicknamed Nigeria for the next 4 or 8 years, the
passengers on board this plane are Nigerian citizens, the air hostess are the
governors, the pilot and his or her assistance is the president and the vice
president.
If the professor makes a mistake in hiring a wrong pilot to fly
air-Nigeria will never exist again as it is the case now. There was a time in history when Nigerian
Airways was among the best in the world. The pilots and all the crew were
amongst the middle class of Nigeria. Giant of Africa that we are know be called
was very befitting in those days.
There was a country is a powerful statement by Chinua Achebe,
but how do we return back to that New Nigeria is the basis of this
conversation.
